Explorer Scouts meet as a District Unit rather than as part of a single Scout Group. At our headquarters we host a District Explorer Unit that has a strong affinity with our Scout Group.

Explorer Scouts start at the age of 14 and stay until they move up to Network at 18.

Shackleton Explorer Scout Unit is led by the Explorer Scout Leader Graham Jenkins and meets every Wednesday evening from 7:30 – 9:30 pm at our headquarters on Barton Road.

Stretford District ‘Shackleton’ Explorer Scout Unit members will:

Have fun, take part in activities, develop a sense of team-work, leadership and responsibility, build positive relationships, understand commitment and develop as a person.

Explorer Scouts also offers the chance to develop Leadership skills through the Young Leadership Scheme which allows members to give voluntary community service to any of the first three younger sections which counts towards badge requirements and full training is provided.
